Can I use a Bushnell rangefinder in competitions?
As of 2019, the USGA (United States Golf Association) has ruled that rangefinders, including Bushnell rangefinders, can now be used in golf competitions unless stated otherwise. This rule does stipulate, though, that any rangefinder that uses the ‘slope’ feature must have this feature turned off for it to still be competition-legal. Of course, individual clubhouse and competition rules may vary, so it’s best to check your chosen competition’s rules.
What is slope mode?
Slope mode on a rangefinder accounts for the elevation difference when calculating the yardage between your position on the freeway to the hole using laser precision and distance measuring. This helps inform those all-important game-ending shots and provides valuable details, which is why many competitions still stipulate this function should be turned off.
How accurate are Bushnell rangefinders?
Bushnell rangefinders are a premium golf GPS brand, so naturally they are incredibly accurate. They are typically accurate to within 1 yard of distance with 6-7x magnification depending on the model, making them extremely useful for important detail-orientated shots.
