Leather is the perfect material for a golf glove as this offers premium performance. Leather golf gloves are priced the highest due to their incredibly great texture and because of its naturally soft and skin tight feel. Leather golf gloves tend to be used by the majority of Tour players because they require ultimate feel when gripping and hitting the golf ball. Synthetic leather all weather golf gloves tend to be situated at a cheaper price in comparison to the leather golf glove. Although these don’t offer as good a feel, these are a whole lot more flexible, durable and long lasting because of the synthetic leather's sturdier genetics. These are also suited better for all weather conditions as opposed to leather gloves which ideally are only suited to fairer conditions. Rain gloves are perfect in wet weather as these are designed to absorb water and almost stick to a wet grip surface. This therefore allows for exceptional grip and provides a good degree of warmth in colder weather. Heat gloves also come in the form of a pair and are designed for the colder seasons by providing a thermal lining which keeps your hands warm and toasty while playing in freezing conditions. Winter mittens aren’t designed for physically swinging a golf club but are designed to be used in between golf shots and keep heat circulation in a player’s hands. Like any mitten, these serve as a highly valuable insulator which reduces the transfer of heat energy in the elements outside of the glove, keeping a golfer’s hands considerably warm inside.

Golf Gloves Frequently Asked Questions
What hand do you wear a golf glove on?
Golf gloves are typically worn on one hand; your weaker hand. This means right-handed players will feel more comfortable with a golf glove on their left hand, and the inverse for left-handed golfers. For left-handed players, we also offer left-handed golf clubs.
Can you wash golf gloves?
Cleaning leather golf gloves and synthetic or fabric golf gloves differ greatly, but both materials can be cleaned properly. We’ll take you through the steps to clean leather and fabric golf gloves properly without damaging the materials.
After a round of golf, your golf gloves will have gathered sweat, dirt, and dust, so cleaning this off as you play and immediately after rounds will help with the overall deeper cleaning later. For immediate post-round cleaning, pour some cool water onto the golf glove whilst its still on your hand and gently rub it with a towel. Leave it on your hand to air dry. This process may feel strange at first, but this ensures the golf glove doesn’t lose shape and retains the shape of your hand.
For a more thorough cleaning after a round of golf, follow these steps for synthetic gloves. Rinse your golf glove in cold water - this time, it doesn’t matter whether it’s on or off your hand. Take a large bowl or basin and fill it with cool soapy water. Be sure to use a gentle soap so you don’t inadvertently affect the material. Worry the water into suds and drop the glove into it, cleaning it and rubbing it gently. When you’re happy with your outcome, run the cold water tap and rinse your glove out under the stream until the water runs clean and free of bubbles. Leave it to airdry for an hour or so on a towel before putting it on your hand and making a fist. This ensures it doesn’t shrink and retains the shape of your hand. Then take it off again, and leave it to dry fully.
For leather gloves, you can follow similar instructions, but you need to be far gentler. Leather is a very sensitive material and it is prized because of how supple it is, so extra care is needed if you’re cleaning leather golf gloves. Still use a gentle soap, but be extra vigilant in washing it off, because if any soap is left to dry on them then the material may crack.
Wherever possible, please avoid washing your golf gloves in a washing machine, regardless of them being synthetic, fabric, or leather. Manual washing is a lot gentler and you can pay extra attention to the outcome.
What size golf glove do I need?
Golf gloves are meant to be worn tight because they’re intended to improve your golf grip, so any looser and they would in fact hinder it. Golfers tend to wear a glove on their weaker hand, so measure the circumference of your left hand if you’re right-handed and vice versa if you’re left-handed. Every golf brand will follow different specifications and use different thickness of material, so don’t assume you will be the same size across all iterations. For example, a FootJoy golf glove will fit differently and be made differently to a Callaway golf glove, so make sure you check each brands’ specifications against your own measurements. If you find that you’re in-between sizes, we would always recommend sizing down rather than sizing up. You want your glove to fit snugly and tightly, so sizing up could give you too much room to play your usual successful game.
Why wear a golf glove?
Golf gloves help all players improve their grip, helping to secure steadier, more powerful, and more accurate shots. They can stop your non-dominant hand slipping up or down the shaft, so you have better control of the club in general. Regardless of whether they’re made out of synthetic material or leather, they are tackier than your skin, which is a huge benefit for playing during the summer, abroad, or generally when you’re sweaty halfway through a round. They stop the club shifting or turning in your palm. Most golfers only wear one glove on their non-dominant hand, but some do choose to wear them on both. This comes down to personal preference, and it may be that as your grip improves you choose to move from two gloves to one.
What are golf gloves made of?
Golf gloves are typically made out of two different materials: synthetic leather, and Cabretta leather.
Synthetic leather golf gloves are very flexible, and depending on how you play your golf, this could either help or hinder your shots. For someone who has a weaker grip, a flexible material isn’t going to be the right choice for you, but if your grip is already strong then a synthetic golf glove could be a valuable ally. They’re not as breathable as real leather gloves, but they are soft, long-lasting, and cheaper.
Cabretta leather golf gloves tend to be a very popular option, because they’re supple and very breathable despite their tight fit, making them great additions for summer rounds and games played abroad. They aren’t as durable as synthetic leather gloves, so they may need replacing after 6 months of regular playing, but they are a good investment for golfers.
Should a golf glove be tight?
Yes, golf gloves are designed to be tight-fitting. This means they keep the friction concentrated firmly between your hand and the club and can steady your grip so your hand doesn’t slip within the material during the momentum of your swing. This also leaves less room for sweat and movement, as there is no excess space for your hand to slip and move around in. Both men’s and women’s golf gloves are designed to be tight, so you should absolutely find a comfortably tight-fitting pair.
